Join our team - Assistant Manager

We’re looking for an experienced and passionate Assistant Manager for our family-run pub in the heart of Knebworth. We are a truly local business offering a freshly cooked food menu, local ales, great coffee and homemade cakes plus everything In-between. We’d love to find someone with the same passion for service, food and great hospitality as we have.

You’ll be a busy member of our management team helping to ensure the smooth running of a busy pub. From the moment you step through the door, you lead by example making sure our guests, and teams, have a great time.

Assistant manager job description and duties

  • Overseeing daily operations - support the business owners in steering the day-to-day operations of the pub, stepping up to the manager on duty role when required, ensuring everything runs smoothly.

  • Guest-led experience - we're all about giving our guests the best possible experience. Our goal is to make sure everyone feels looked after, leaving them wanting to come back for more.

  • You’re the face of the pub – We have high standards and we want to showcase our business in Its best light each and every day.

What are we looking for?

  • A guest first approach – We’d like you to share our passion for exceptional service and consistency as a non-negotiable.

  • Great problem-solving skills - things can get busy, but you thrive on it. We’re looking for someone with the ability to think on their feet, adapt when needed and have multiple plans in place for every eventuality.

  • Detail-oriented - A sharp eye for the little things. We like to make sure every detail is considered and exceeds our guests' expectations.

  • Experience of hospitality management preferred but certainly people management in a similar dynamic role.

  • Flexible, enthusiastic and energetic.

You’ll be responsible for assisting the daily running and organisation of the front of house, working alongside a lovely team of individuals. The job role would be full-time (40–48 hours a week) and immediate start is available. We are mindful of flexible requirements but this role will include hours during evenings and weekends.
